Where new part numbers are used to define the compliant version of a part, standard receiving processes can be used to identify that the correct part has been received. Where the manufacturer is not changing the part number, special inspection processes which check for other identifiers to validate the compliance status may be necessary. As no universal industry standard has been created, you should expect to create supplier-specific receiving inspection instructions.

Use separate locations to store product with the same supplier part number but different compliance statuses.

Communication and training regarding the importance of compliance to the regulations and the risks associated with the inadvertent mixing of compliant and non-compliant components should occur and continue to be reinforced until the need for separate inventories has passed.
